How to Make Chocolate Pudding

This recipe is very easy to follow and fun at the same time! Just about everyone loves pudding, but have you ever eaten a homemade pudding? A lot of people do not like the additives in store bought puddings, so try your hand at this recipe!

With practice, your pudding-making skills could amount to this

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Combine the ingredients. Add sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt into a heavy medium saucepan.
  2. Pour the milk. Gradually mix or whisk in the milk into the saucepan mixture.
  3. Apply heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, while still whisking constantly. Whisk until the mixture is thick for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the mixture from the heat.
  5. Beat the egg. Beat the egg in a separate, heat resistant bowl, such as a ceramic or regular mixing bowl. Gradually add the hot pudding mixture to the beaten egg in the mixing bowl, whisking constantly.
  6. Add chocolate chips. Whisk in the chocolate chips until the chips melt and the pudding mixture is smooth.
  7. Transfer the pudding. Pour the pudding mixture into serving bowls or cups. Place a piece of wax paper or plastic wrap over the serving containers to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate it, covered, until it is cold, which should take at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
